Exciting News For The Blind
If you know anybody that has been blinded by
[tag-cat Eye Disease]disease[/tag-cat] pass this on, they need all the encouragement they can get and must not lose hope.
Those enterprising medical people have discovered a way to successfully transplant light sensitive retinal cells into mice.
To simplify the explanation of the procedure, they have developed photoreceptor cells that have been transplanted into the retina at the back of the eyes of mice and that have successfully integrated and not been being rejected.
Those blind mice have got their sight back!
Over the years many medical techniques that have become successful and commonplace have begun with experiments on rodents.
This new breakthrough is highly encouraging and lets keep our fingers crossed that it will soon lead to restoring the sight of those afflicted throughout the world.
